TEMPO.CO, Jakarta – Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy, Sandiaga Uno, estimated that museums would be the best partners for the development of quality tourism in Indonesia.

“The fundamental values ​​of quality and environmentally friendly tourism are qualified human resources, visitor satisfaction, diversification of products and services and technological adaptation,” Minister Uno said at a seminar organized to commemorate National Museums Day in Jakarta on Saturday.

Museums, which have been among those affected by the COVID-19 pandemic and its economic fallout, should innovate, adapt and collaborate to overcome the effects of COVID-19, he added.

Museums must innovate by developing thematic tourism products; use the CHSE (cleanliness, health, safety and environment) certification for tourist destinations to adapt to the new standard and show their willingness to admit tourists; and develop their premises to achieve competitive superiority in improving the tourism experience, said the minister.

He highlighted academic research that highlighted the need to implement smart tourism in museums, noting that world-famous museums have been implementing smart technologies for a long time now.

“I hope that Indonesian museums can achieve the same quality as popular museums in the world, like the Louvre in France, the Te Papa museum in New Zealand and the MoMA (museum of modern art) in the United States. United, ”Uno said.

The Minister expressed confidence that Indonesian stakeholders are ready to establish museums under public-private partnership programs to foster the development of smart tourism in Indonesian museums.

Four pillars must be synergized for the development of smart museums in Indonesia: leadership, human capital, social capital and innovation, Sandiaga Uno noted.

“The role of the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy in the development of smart museums is that of co-creator and co-facilitator for stakeholders to develop museums as a tourism product,” he said. added.
