Program of visits to heritage places offering tourist activities in Sindh: Secretary of Culture

HYDERABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News – October 21, 2021): Culture and Tourism Secretary Abdul Rahim Soomro said on Thursday that the Sindh Culture Department has organized a comprehensive tour program in which people from all over the Pakistan could visit the cultural heritage and tourist sites located in the Hyderabad division.

He said this while chairing a meeting here at Shahbaz Hall to review preservation work on declared historic, cultural and tourist heritage buildings and other sites.

The Sindh Culture Department has come up with a comprehensive program of tours of heritage buildings, tourist and cultural places from November 14 in which registered people from all over the country would be taken to visit all heritage buildings, tourist and cultural and other places located in the Hyderabad division, says Soomro.

He said the culture department will provide a social media virtual tour template with detailed information about these sites.

He said tourists would benefit from residences, transportation for the visit and that a brochure would also be published for their detailed information on heritage sites.

He said that a tourism committee would be formed by the culture department to make all the arrangements for tourism.

Addressing the meeting, Commissioner Muhammad Abass Baloch said that Hyderabad is a historic and cultural city in Sindh where several historic buildings and heritage sites are available.

He said the government of Sindh and the department of culture had taken several measures for the development of the tourism potential of this historic city, the commissioner said, adding that the private sector would be encouraged to play a role in improving the tourist activities.

The Basant Hall, Mir Tombs, Ghulam Shah Kalhoro Tomb, Mukhi House, Metha Ram Inn, Paka Qila and Hasrat Mohani Library are important heritage buildings and sites where restoration work was completed then that work on other locations was underway, said Abass Baloch. .

He asked the relevant officials to organize an awareness march so that people can gain knowledge about the city’s rich cultural and historical past.

The DC also informed the meeting about the efforts of the district administration for the preservation of the cultural heritage of Hyderabad.

The meeting was attended by, among others, Additional Commissioner Sayed Sajjad Haider, Dr Nilofar Shaikh, Majid Bhurgari, Amar Fayaz Burito and officers from the Sindh Culture Department.
