Uttarakhand opens adventure tourism business, issues new guidelines

In accordance with the new standards, the owner of the adventure business / agency / tour operator must ensure that their employees receive appropriate training for the prevention of Covid-19 infection.


In view of the relaxation granted to the tourism sector after Lockdown 4, the Uttarakhand Tourism Development Council has announced the opening of adventure-related activities such as water sports, hiking and hiking. mountaineering, aerodynamic sports and camping activities for all incoming tourists. The government of Uttarakhand has also issued guidelines for tourists as well as the adventure agency while conducting the adventure related activities.

In accordance with the new standards, the owner of the adventure business / agency / tour operator must ensure that their employees receive appropriate training for the prevention of Covid-19 infection. The head of the agency / adventure tour operator should make a commitment with the office of the Ministry of Tourism and relevant district administrative offices to request the necessary authorization to conduct the adventure activities.

Speaking on occasion, Dilip Jawalkar Secretary, Tourism, Government of Uttarakhand noted, “Adventure tourism has a major contribution to the state’s overall tourism industry and we are confident that reopening adventure activities will benefit the state’s tourism industry. We look forward to working with them as to ensure effective implementation of the rules and guidelines to control the spread of the epidemic in the state. “

The head of the agency / adventure tour operator must ensure the proper implementation of the required health measures such as thermal screening, physical distancing, face coverage with masks / shields and frequent hand washing.

The agency will also ensure proper disinfection of equipment used in adventure activities in accordance with MoHF, GoI and state government guidelines after each use. During the activity, if a guest exhibits symptoms of Covid-19 infection, the agency / tour operator should immediately notify the health center and encourage the guest to see a doctor.
